Alleppey with Mintos

In Alleppey we met Mintos, a friend of me from the internet. As he came into our hotel to pick us up we were busy with a kind of a photoshooting for the homepage of the hotel. I was a little surprised about myself that I couldn't make him out even though I had seen a picture of him. But as he walked straight away towards us there was no doubt: HE WAS MINTOS!! ;-)
It was really interesting what Mintos related us about India, the people and the culture. He showed us around the city and of course we got to see the beach too. Surprisingly nobody was swimming! Religion / tradition doesn't allow them (in particular the women) to show too much naked skin. I remembered how much fun it is catching up waves with a bodyboard and so on, therefore I felt real pity for the women clothed in Sahree. Although the women in India look always elegant like princesses.



In the evening Mintos took us to his home for dinner. I can't express how surprised we all were!!
His entire family provided us with so much different food that it's hard to remember the names of the dishes. OK, I'll attempt it:

I: fried dhal with chapatti and mixed salad
II: black fish in spicy crust
III: chicken masala with coconut-couli, hot spiced mango-chutney, fermented curd-sauce and
special indian rice
IV: butter scotch ice cream

Actually it's not possible to describe how great the meals tasted!! ;-) Like Indian tradition we ate with fingers only of the right hand. Astonishingly it's not that easy to do this with rice.

The hospitality of Mintos' family was a great experience.
